Default Olds 3.1 liter

Hi I have a mid 90's cutlass with a 3.1 in it and it has a rocker arm stud that pulled out the threads. and the push rod must have fallen into the engine valley. what I am wondering is am i limited as to what engine I put in its place? I am going to buy a new engine seeing as this one has 200,000 miles and I am not going through the work to do heads on such a high mileage engine. I think i am pulling at straws here but I was kind of thinking of a 3.4 or 3.8. But I dont know if I will have to change a lot of wiring and what not to do so. So if not possible I will just stick with a 3.1. and I plan to pull the engine / trans and engine cradle out from the bottom. Is that the best and easiest way to do this?

Thanks.
Dave

You can put the 3.4L in it. I wouldn't even bother with the 3.8L. With the 3.4L everything is the same as the 3.1 exept the displacement. You can bolt 3.4L heads on the 3.1L. As far as wiring I'm not sure how much has changed over the years but 99-04 3.1L and 3.4L have the same wiring. The injectors are a little different though. Check out www.60degreev6.com. Good info there.
