Question Question about tow dollys

Why is it that we need to remove the drive shaft when towing with a tow dolly? How far is it safe to tow with a tow dolly without removing the driveshaft? Thanks Ted

You don't remove it from the trans, but disconnect it from the rear end. This is done because you can cook the bearings on the output shaft and do tons of damage.
If you are going to tow the car more than a couple of blocks you should disconnect it.
