Silhouette 99 OVERHEATING
Hi
I''ve just bought a 99 Silhouette with 164k miles on the clock!
Iam an optimist but there is a rapid overheating problem which I hope it doesn''t mean that I''ve got a lemon. The head gasket was replaced
at 110k and it''s had just one owner and regular servicing . I''m
not a technical wizard - to say the least . Any thoughts about what
the possible cause/s might be?
PS The warning light was on for
low coolant and no heat came out of heater. The van would not
accelerate, then temperature suddenly dropped down, acceleration
returned, and temperature started to rise again. Other lights on were
for TCS and ABS but assume it was not connected.
Previous owner
replaced thermostat, serpentine belt and had a major tuneup. Coolant
flush done around 100,000. In forum it seemsthat other owners have continuing
problems after various corrections. Our dealer will be looking at it.
Any questions we should ask dealer before we take vehicle after they
say they have repaired it?
