Sleeving a Engine

I just purchased a 455 olds during the breakdown to take it to the Machine shop found a cracked cylinder wall I am thinking about haveing it sleeved and would like to know if is a good ideal?


Also what other options are available to me.

It somewhat depends on where the crack is located; but as a general rule, cracked cylinder walls are not reliably repairable. T o my knowledge, you also don't have many options.


When I was a kid, they had this product called Block Rock that you could pour into a block's water jacket to effectively make it solid so that you could bore out the walls paper thin and still have a functional engine. Obviously, though, the engine was only suitable for drag racing and was not streetable.
