Steering shaft probs 2nd gen Aurora

Is anybody aware of what's behind recurring intermediate steering shaft problems on 2nd gen Auroras? (steering wheel popping as you turn it). Looking at used Auroras and from service records I've seen several have had these problems. Cost to fix? Appreciate any feedback.
