Wedged and jammed hood
#1
Hi!
I tried to open the hood of my 1990 Cutlass Cruiser SL (international Edition) to reload the dead battery, after this car wasn't driven for 2 years. Unfortunately I couldn't even open the hood... It seems to be jammed or wedged somehow. The whole hood-opening-mechanics are a little rusted up I think. By dragging the hood realease I almost messed up the hole opening mechanism. Now everything seems to be jammed. I assume that the primary hood lock/latch is somehow not releasing anymore... I fiddled around trying to open the hood but failed miserably... I don't know what to do anymore. I mean isn't it ironic: I just wanted to relaod the dead battery but didn't even manage to get access to the engine compartement...
Please help if you can, anyhow!
Thanks a lot!

I HAD A SIMULAR PROBLEM AND SOLVED IT WITH SOMEONE PUSHING DOWN ON THE HOOD AT THE AREA OF THE LATCH WHILE I PULLED THE LATCH.

Must have forgotten to list it up above.
Do you have any other ideas according to my problem?
Please send them to me!
Thanks

the only thought i have is going in from the underside of the car and using vise grip pliers on the latch itself. here again you may need someone to assist. i am sure there are covers to be removed. good luck.

Hi guys!
Thanks for your replies, I finalliy managed to get my jammed hood open. It wasn't that complicated as I thought it would be in the end. I was unmounting half of the front of my car as I found a little stretch of unmanteled hood latch cable an pulled it with a zip tie. Result: Hood finally snapped open again!!! Once again thanks for you posts, they were very useful for me!
Best Regards
Denis
