I have a fairly stock 350, on a 77 Cutlass. Drives nicely with some extra mods, just a cruiser. Standard Quadrajet with some mods from Cliff's book, recurved HEI and mild cam.
Put an Edelbrock 3711 on it, this is the one with EGR and the hot air choke setup, factory almost. I also installed the block off plates to both ports as do not use either ports now (elec choke). I did not block off the cross overs, just as it came.
I notice that the paint has burnt off the manifold (painted Olds Blue), I'd say 4" around the choke plate area so it must be very hot. The EGR side is not affected.
Anyone have any thoughts on this please, would the 2711 have been a better choice (no EGR or choke heat) and either way, should I have blocked the cross over?
thank you,
Graeme
