i have a ''99 3.5 l GLX with 109,000 and starting to have some major problem.
First of all there is a big problem with a loss of power.
When i bouht thins thing 2 years ago and this baby used to be fast.
Then slowly over time is started loosing power. At first i had a major electrical/engine/tranny/power loss problem untll i replaced the alternator. It ran fine for a year and once again i;m having a problem.
Today while getting gas @ walmart my car decided to be amazingly fast again, out of nowhere. It had great acceleration & throttle response. One i got some gas from wall mart, it gradually lost it''s power and on the stop light 5 minutes later then engine stalled out on me. from there it went back to being originally slow. A week before when i was driving somewhere and decided to accelerate my rpms wouldn''t go above 3,000 as my car would start choking, the rpm jumped up and down in random order without giving me any power. Sometimes when driving up hill my car losses almost all power and check engine light goes on.

Is this a crankshaft positioning problem, timing best problem, computer or any other sensor?
Any help is appreciated.

I have had to replace the crankshaft sensor for the stalling problems, my transmission sometimes shifts really hard or you can hear a winding after you have been going really slow and then return to normal speed. After I have replaced the crankshaft sensor it doesn''t stall and transmission is working better. If you are having problems with your dashboard and air conditioning and your automatic headlights, you will eventually have to replace the ignition switch. I was told the problems with the transmission is something to do with a sensor in the selenoid, It can be very costly to fix it so I am leaving it alone. I can deal with an occassional transmission problem. However with the stalling, it will get more frequent and eventually your car will quit completely. It cost me about $150 to replace the crankshaft sensor. Good luck.

thanks dude.
i didn''t even have to replace the ignition switch. all i did was take that thing out, take it apart and clean all of the contacts. No more electrical problems for me.

btw does anybody know what kind of timing belt intrigue uses? regular or chain??

i think i might have found the source of all these problems.
when i had a mechanic look at the car they said my computer constantly looses power. he also said he has never seen this problem before. Has anybody else encountered a problem like this before??
