Gas Filler Quirk with my 2000 Intrigue
My wife briefly had a 2001 Intrigue and until she totalled it in a serious accident, we both thought it was a very nice car. My children recently bought a 2000 Intrigue based on our experience and are enjoying the car as well. My wife really likes it in comparison to her current 2001 Alero.
Anyhow, her car had a locking gas filler with a push button on the dash that electrically released the filler door, allowing it to pop open. My children's 2000 has the push button on the dash (and makes a "clicking noise" when it is depressed,) but the filler door is spring loaded in the closed position, has a conventional "thumb print lip" for opening it manually, and appears to not have any provision for solenoid locking.
This has struck me as just a quirk. I was wondering if any forum members can offer a more official and complete explanation for this filler door arrangement variation.
Thanks.
