I am looking for some help. I have a 98 Intrigue and the last couple of days I have been driving down the road and the rpm's will drop down to 0 and the oil light will come on. There is still power to the entire car. During this the air conditioning has been on as well. I can pull over, turn the car off for a moment, start it again and go. However, this seems to only happen when the air conditioner are on. I live in AZ so, and a/c is more than necessary!


Can anyone help??

 

i dont think you have a major problem because any engine that is not running the oil light will come on . sounds like you have a problem with a lack of fuel or a lack of spark. has the fuel filter been serviced and how far does the car go before it stops again? does the engine have any unusual noises.

 

I have not serviced the fuel filter in awhile. a friend of mine checked the voltage because many people have said that they believe the problem is electrical. i have not paid too much attention to the distance between when the car dies or not. i died again yesterday when I was idle and the engine light came on this time.

 

i think i would start with a new fuel filter ( cant hurt ) and have one of the parts houses or my best mechanic to check the system for trouble codes. surely this would start you in the right direction to get the car back in roadworthy condition.
