I have a 68 olds cutlass supreme that I just did an engine swap to a 455. The problem is that I can not figure out the ignition wiring. I can not seem to find the correct wires that provide power to the ignition and then to the starter and coil. There is a purple wire that goes into the fusebox. I thought I was certain that this was the 12v supply to the car. This may have been connected to the starter originally, but for some reason I had it connected straight to the battery. Anyway, when I connect it to the battery, my fuse box has no power (all fuses good), I turn the key to the on position and no power, but when I turn the key to the start position, it gives power to the fuse box and items like the turn signals work, etc. I am stumped. Has anyone ever heard of this before. Thank you for any help.
