Default NOS parts Rons Classic Cutlass Monticello, Indiana

I was given a written list of retail prices by Ron Memmer in relation to some NOS 442 parts I had. The retail price that he wrote foe the unused, still in the box 1971 442 Sport Steering wheel that he wrote was "$400-$500" . By the next day, he told me the actual value was as much as $2200 and having obtained the steering wheel from me, he was offering the same wheel for $1500 to a 442 enthusuiast. If the value was at least $1500, why did he tell me in writing that the retail value was $400-$500. Please give me advise on this situation.
