Is it Possible?

Anything's possible. But you'll have to replace the transmission (Chevy bolt pattern), radiator, rewire the starter and a bunch of other things I can't think of right now. An Olds 455, however, will drop right in with only a motor mount change. Although a BOP TH-400 would be advised...

i figured there would be a lot to change around in it if it could be done. thanks for the answer. now i just need to start the work... thats always the fun part.
one other thing 454 or the 455? which would be better.

Initial price of building a 454 will be cheaper, but that'll be offset by having to re-engineer the car to make it fit.
I'd go with the 455. A little more expensive up front, but it'll pay off.
Have you considered a built Olds 350? Muh easier to find than a 455. I havea warmed over350in my '71 Cutlass convertible and I terrorize the little ricers and 5.0 Rustangs on a regular basis.

See i was planning on doing a 350 in the first place but thought it would be cool to go a little higher.
this whole project is still in the planning stages anyway so i'm not all sure which i will end up with.
