reading codes on a 94 with no data terminal?

reading codes on a 94 with no data terminal?
A friend of mine has a 94. I am trying to read the trouble codes but there is no wire going to the "B"terminal of the ALDL. Using a paper clip to jump "A" & "B" terminals does nothing.
