On the gearbox end. Everything works smoothly, but the @#$%@#$ thing pops off, have to select D by poking a stick under the hood.

Do I have to change that hard to get at cable, or is the end replaceable?

To answer my own question, AutoZone sold me a back of inserts, one of which fitted perfectly.

I used a miniature G clamp to press it on.
