I''ve got a 1970 442 455 motor with a HEI distributor. Can anyone recommend spark plugs and gap for that? It a non modified motor with a stock GM HEI unit.

with an HEI distributor you SHOULD be able to get away with a .045 gap provided the coil is good.

.035 is the max I'd go with a points setup and a stock style coil.

You must remember that they went .080 stock. Now I in now way think that's a good idea. I'd go .040 and be done with it.
