Default 2003 Alero Sterio

I just bought a used 2003 Alero 2 weeks ago. The stereo works but most of the time you can't hear anything. I finally got the car salesman to agree to fix it. He tells me it is the stereo.

I'm thinking it would be wires or speakers, right? He is charging me $75.00 for a old ugly used stereio he bought off someone else.

I work hard for my money and I feel like he's not being honst with me. He has got my car as I speak, and I'm somewhat upset.

Could someone please give me advice or tell me it sounds like my car is in good hands?

Please!!

So everything worked, just no sound from the speakers? Did the chimes work? The beebing if your seat belt wasn't on, key in the ignition with the door open.

I always wear my seatbelt so I didn't notice. But, I just checked the seatbelt, and key in with door open, and the chime never went off, nor did it let me know I left the headlights on after I turned the car off.

By the way the stereo they were going to replace mine with didn't work. So, he's looking for another.

Thanks for responding to my post.

Sounds like a fuse inside the radio itself blew. You can get a radio off ebay for pretty cheap. The only problem with that is you would have to take it to a dealership to get it reprogramed to your cars VIN, which is about $80. You would have to get an 01 and up radio though beccause GM didn't use the data bus II in the 99 and 00 Aleros.

How much are they gonna charge you for this? You could get an aftermarket radio for pretty cheap.

Wow, good job!! Thank you so much!

So, I guess I can't just buy a fuse? Or maybe get the fuse out of the one the car salesman had? If it is a good one?

I'll check ebay today, thanks.

I don't know if you could buy just a fuse. I'm sure you could but I don't know where. It may not even be a fuse. It could be anything in the radio that burn out or it could be a simple wire being loose. I have 3 radios out of Aleros, the one that came in my car, one from ebay that I was gonna just use parts for but the insides were different even though they were from the same year, and one out of an 04 I bought from a member on another site. For $70 I got the radio shipped and he was nice enough to unlock it so I could use it without having to take it to the dealership.
