New 2003 3.4L alero owner. What is the deal on the coolant overflow tank and the threads stripping? It is hell to get the cap on correctly without cross threading so I went to the junk yard to get a new tank and the guy told me forget it you won't find one becuase they all do that. Is there a good source of an aftermarked tank and cap I could go to that won't cross thread?

Its not always the threads (might be in your case) but the cap is a 2 piece cap and somtimes the center pulls away from the threaded part of the cap and then it throws everything off. hope this helps.

My original, plus the one from Auto Zone did the same thing! I wind up unscrewingthe 2nd flat piece. I just got my radiator hoses replaced and I saw they gave me a nice new cap- I''ll get the make and report it back to you
