Default Coolant eruption

Just got my 2000 Alero back from getting a new trans and the rack replaced and wanted to do regular maintenance so I changed the oil and topped off fluids. I assume I over-filled the coolant because I did a drive and when I stopped and turned the car off coolant erupted through the over-flow (I think). Since then I can't get the level right and either the car doesn't leak at all, but the light is on - or I get the light to turn off and it pees on the ground. And for some reason, even when the temp gage registers hot, there's cold air blowing through the vents.

I saw something about the bleeder valve on the water pump, is that probably all I need to do? I've never worked on a car that had the pressurized overflow tank so I'm at a loss, never had this kind of problem before.

You need to open the bleeder screw with the car running. Keep it open till no more air comes out. You may need to do this 2 or 3 times letting the car cool down between each time.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick!
