intake questions
Hey everyone,
New to the site. I own a 2003 Alero with the 3.4 and a leaking lower intake gasket. I still don't know what Gm was thinking using a plastic gasket. I got the Fel-pro kit and everything I need to do the job. I was wondering if I needed to remove the fuel rail to access the lower manifold bolts? It looks like I can leave the rail in place and just unhook the regulator and inlet line. Also should I get a new inlet line o-ring? I have read that it likes to disappear. Any tips for this repair would be appreciated. Going to tackle it this Saturday. Looks pretty straightforward. Just a lot of little things to remove. I am a fairly skilled mechanic just unsure about a few of the details. I am also going to change the spark plugs and wires as well as the thermostat. I am hoping the car will run cooler after I do all this. It runs halfway on the gauge which to me is a little warm.
Thanks

Finished the repair. did the plugs and wires as they had 140,000 on them as well as the thermostat. Car runs amazing. Better than before and no leaks. can't beat that. Those fel-pro gaskets are really well built.
