Hi,

I have a '99 Alero that doesn't have a keyless entry system. Is it possible to install one at this point?

Thanks,

Sean

An aftermarket one, yes. A factory setup, I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the fast reply, Iflylow.

Do you know of any good aftermarket systems I can get for a decent price?

WHILE YOU ARE INVESTIGATING A KEYLESS ENTRY INVESTIGATE A REMOTE START. I HAD ONE INSTALLED ON A FORD TRUCK AND IT WORKED GREAT. IF YOU HAVE POWER DOOR LOCKS NOW IT SHOULDN'T BE A LARGE PROBLEM . WARM IN THE WINTER AND COOL IN THE SUMMER...

Sorry, I'm not familiar with any of them. If you choose remote start, ask someone who installed that same system on an Alero how well it worked. Some of the remote start systems have been known to not work well with the Passlock security system Aleros have.

Thanks guys,

I decided on a DEI Valet no-frills keyless entry system, and had it installed by Circuit City. Originally, the technician did not install the interface correctly, but I brought my car back the next day and they had the system working in about an hour. My only complaint is that my remote uses a single button to lock/unlock the doors, making it hard to tell for sure weather the they are locked or not. I bought a 2 button remote online and am in the process of getting it programmed, though, so we'll see how that goes.
