Shifter Louvers
#1
Hi, the louvers on the floor shifter of my GF's 04 Alero have suddely stop sliding the way they are supposed too and exposing gaps when in gear.
I'm wondering what years had the same style shifter so that I can get a replacement at the jy. Also, how does the shifter **** come off?
In the past usually it was push the button in and pill & twist to get the **** off. I've already popped the panel where the the shift indicator & ETS switch are. I just need to get the **** off to replace it.
Also, there are place online you can download ford factory manual's. Is there something similar for GM's?

I'm not sure about the 04, but I'll tell you how the 01 **** comes off. Maybe it's the same. Look on the lower forward side of the shift ****. You should see what looks like a staple. Use a small screwdriver to pry it out, and the **** should slide right off.
You may not have to buy more louvers. They might just be sticking because of spilled drinks, dust, and other junk on them. When you get them out, try a good cleaning, maybe you can save a little $$$.
