My family has a 1996 aurora and they just called me and said that the car has been smelling of raw gas worse and worse as of late (and it never did before and they did not spill any when filling the tank). It is not leaking out on the ground anywhere and they said it smells even when the tank is not full at the rear of the car. Are their any known issues with the vent tube or fuel tank sealing. Just wanted to throw this out their before i head over. The car is 220 miles away from me and my rollway. Is the fuel pump or fuel level sending unit easily accessableor the top of the tank through the trunk or under the rear seat through an access cover or do you have to drop the tank out of the car? Thanks in advance for any help

 

HEY LIGHTEN UP AND SLOW DOWN . I HAVE RECIEVED YESTERDAY A RECALL LETTER FROM GM . TAKE YOUR CAR TO GM DEALERSHIP AND A FREE CHECK WILL BE PERFORMED ON THE FUEL LINES . GM RECOGNIZED THEY HAVE A PROBLEM . IF THEY FIND A PROBLEM IT IS FREE.;.....PLEASE ADVISE YOUR RESULTS HERE....

Wanted to give you guys and update. I called the dealer and they said that they had no problems with any fuel lines and they would inspect them for their normal hourlydiagnosis rate and they had not heard of any problems. Going to look at it myself and see what we've got.
