'91 Cutlass Ciera: Torque Converter
Hello Everyone!
I have been having this ridiculous problem with the torque converter: after driving for ~20 miles it will refuse to 'unlock itself' (as if thinks the car is cruising when in reality it's approaching a stop). Once this starts to happen, it forces the engine to seize whenever it goes into gear until I let the car sit for a while.
So what I'm wondering is if this is more likely to be a mechanical issue or an electrical one. Is there a way to prevent the torque converter from 'locking' until I can fix it properly? Do you guys think that this could be a problem only with the torque converter, and I would not need to open the transmission?
Any thoughts are appreciated, Thanks!
