94 Cutlass Supreme Rotor/Pad replacement
#1
Hey guys,
I'm doing the rear rotors and pads on a friend's '94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, I've tried searching but have found nothing on the subject. So any tips or tricks or odd things that I should expect? I'm guessing that I will find a big 'GM'stamped on it. How are the calipers held on (hex or socket)? Size?
Should I just expect to remove the caliper, support it on something, and then remove retaining screw and pop the old rotors off and then install new rotors and reattach the caliper then go through the seasoning/beddingprocess?
Thanks!

The rear rotors and pads are an easy job. You should pick up the little square tool to return the brake calipers to their original position using a ratchet (don't use a c-clamp). This will allow thenew brake pads to fit as they are thick! To do this job confidently, buy the $15 Haynes manual for these W-body cars. The job is well explained with text and photos and will help you get the job done correctly.
To ensure even wear on the new rotors, be sure to correctly and evenlytorque the rear wheels onto thehubs. Use the criss-cross pattern to tighten the lug nuts.
Good Luck
