We have a '76 Cutlass Salon 2-door and find that I am constantly disassembling the two-button master power window switch to get it "just to work for another year"; my experience is that there are none to be found new. I also find myslef replacing the single-button on the passenger side nearly as often with cheap auto parts store units. I have finally resorted to digging them out of junkyard A-bodies of similar vintage.

What switches will interchange successfully with these? I see both one- and two-button NOS switches of very similar appearance advertised for late-70s - early-80s Camaros/Firebirds, El Caminos and Chevy/GMC trucks on eBay and elsewhere. Will they work, or are they dimensionally or otherwise technically different? Or will something else entirely fit and work correctly even if it doesn't "look right"? I really don't want to butcher the door panel or wiring harness just to address this (seemingly) simple problem.
