shift indicator linkage

does anyone have a picture or a manual that shows the column shift linkage from the column to the cluster 71 cutlass supreme..

Almost all cars of this era use a simple cable, almost a piece of string, to move the spring loaded indicator in the cluster.
What is the issue? Does it not move, or not point correctly/out of adjustment?
