Question 1971 350 with HEI Dist. R45S spark plugs

I have a 1971 Olds Cutlass Conv with 350 4bbl. (My Father bought the car NEW) Installed an HEI Dist years ago. ( yes it has a full 12 volts going to it.) The Heads ( #7 I believe) on this engine are Original and use the 13/16" Spark pPlugs . The original plug Gap ( with POINTS Dist) was .035-.040". WHAT should the Plug Gap be with the HEI ??? Chilton says the 350 engines With HEI should be .080" ! but will the large base R45S , be able to handle a .080" GAP ?? Orig Engine was Redone alot of years ago, but only has about 5K miles on it. I've tried both the rebuilt Q-Jet and a new Edelbrock, just cannot seem to get much Power out of it ! ( I know it's a Low Compression 260 engine, But it used to light up the tires, Now it's a dog. Thanks for you Suggestions/ Help
