Hello, I have a 2001 Alero that wont start. The starter and battery are good, It cranks hard. So, I sprayed starting fluid into the intake and it fired up for 3 or 4 seconds.I then checked the fuel pressure suspecting that the pump may be bad. It has the correct pressure (55psi).
What do I need to check or replace next? I don't know exactly what the fuel regulator does. Could that be bad. Need some help. Thanks.

I have had problems for over a year with starting my 2002 Alero & have had it towed numerous times, only to be told later that it started fine for the mechanic.
I have finally solved the mystery & you will be amazed at how simple (and inexpensive!) the solution turns out to be.
Simply detach your car key from all other keys. That's it! For some reason, having additional keys attached somehow interferes with ignition.
This also explains why the damn car would always start for the mechanics--I only left them the single key! (I'd begun to think that the towing process somehow fixed the problem...)
So, give it a try! I sincerely hope that this trick works for all you frustrated Alero owners out there--

I have a 04 alero. i have been having a starting problem with it as well. When i turn the key nothing happens. No fuel pump no starter...nothing. if you have this problem this might help:
if you turn the key over once and it doesnt start does the SECURITY light stay on or blink? if so this is what you do:
turn the key off and take it out.
put key in an attemp to start.
if nothing happens stop trying to start it.
after the first start attemp simply leave the key in the acc position (DO NOT TURN OFF AFTER FIRST START ATTEMPT JUST PUT IN ACC)
Wait approx 10-15mins and the SECURTY light should go off.
Once SECURITY light goes off attemp to start once more.
it still will not start but after trying to start it turn the key off and count to 3 and turn it back on. it should start now.
PS if that worked for you then your PASS-LOCK SENSOR is going bad.
