HELP! In the underhood fuse box the 40AMP fuse keeps blowing every time I try to start the van. I found a purple wire under the hood that was melted which I replaced and that fixed the problem for awhile. Now it will randomly start acting up again and blow the fuse. I have bypassed the fuse with a length of wire and gotten the van to start that way in the past but I'm tired of messing with this and need it to be reliable for my family. Any suggestions?

 

The purple wire runs from your neutral safety switch on the trans-axle to the starter solenoid. I'm guessing your solenoid or starter need replacing.

 

I've replaced both and that did not solve the problem. The 40 maxi fuse blows at times and it won't start then.
