Hi all, I am a member of ClubGP(former Grand Prix owner) and my dad owns a '96 Olds LSS.

Anyways, he just spun a crank bearing and is wondering about the costs of either replacing the bearing, or just replacing the engine itself. I have replaced the oil pan gasket in my GP and it took me pretty near a week to do it, for having to drop the subframe member and lifting the engine slightly. It was hell. Would it basically be the same procedure to replace the bearing?

He has a Series I 3800 engine with the 4T60-E transaxle. If he were to replace the engine, would it be of any benefit to go ahead and get a shortblock Series III crate?
