Default Stupid mistake-- HELP

I got a new head unit for christmas this year, and thought i could install it myself. Well after 2 days of wrestling with the thing, i realized I needed a harness adapter, after cutting the wires out of the original harness. I have an '95 Eighty-Eight and some of the wires are colored the same, so after trying to reconnect the wires to the harness (no solder, just elec. tape in case I needed to move some around,) I had no power to the receiver, and now the 'pings' when I turn the engine over are lower and slower, as if the battery was drained. I disconnected all the wires, recharged my battery and still the pings are low. Anyone know what's causing this, and how i can amend my huge mess up with my wires? Thanks.
