Switching from J to C heads....questions
Happy to join the forum...lifelong Olds guy.
I have a set of bare C heads that I am going to take to the machine shop and get rebuilt to replace the J heads on my 442. The freeze plugs on the J heads have developed pin holes from 40 years of rust so if I have to take them off, why not finally get the C heads done that have been in my garage for 10 years. I know they need hard valve seats, I will need to buy all new valves, springs, etc. Just curious as to those of you that have more experience with the C heads what tips or advice you would give me as far as valves (would rather go with 2.07), push rods, and anything I might be missing as I think through it. Engine is .040 over 455, 2323F pistons, Mondello 22-25-10 cam, Performer with a Holley 750, 10" converter, TH-400, 3.73 gears. '76 442.
