Default 1995 Oldsmobile 98 Troubles

Hey everyone, Not sure if this is the correct section to post this type of subject, but I am having some troubles that I cannot solve on my own.

My 1995 98 will start up, but to keep it running I have to "Pump" the gas. The car will stay running, but run rough for 4-5 minutes, the motor will start to surge, idle high then low for a few minutes, then the car will stall and not start til the car is cold again! black smoke also comes out of the tail.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated

Does the check engine light come on? If so, get the codes read.
Has all the usual maintenance been done, check air filter, change fuel filter, etc?

This is a hard one without being around the car, but I would get the fuel pressure checked, and make sure the idle air control valve is not sticking. Also clean the MAF sensor.
