Hello All,

I have a 2000 Alero and I just installed a new Ignition Switch w/ Key.
The install went good, but now the car will not start. I''m guessing it has to to with security so it disconnected the negative from the battery for about 5 mins and tried again with no success.
Here is a link to what I installed.

Any help or idea would be great.

hey im not to sure bout why it wont start but im thinkin your problem might be purely electric. u should get it hauled to a shop or have someone go to u an have them check the starter orrun a computer diagnostics which if it is a security problem it will trip some codes. an last pull it out an double check wiring to make sure u hooked the right ones up an maybe its just a bad ignition an look at possible warranty on replacing it. let me no how it goes

If it is a Passlock problem, disconnecting the battery for only 5 minutes will not fix it.

Does the security light flash when you try to start it? Will the engine turn over? What exactly happens when you turn the key? More info will help us help you.
