Default 96 cutlass supreme transmission problem

Hi,

I have a 1996 olds cutlass supreme 3.1.I bought this car used and the transmission was rebuilt at 125,000 miles from the previous owner ($1900.00)The car now has 150,000 and the tranny seems to slip at times. is this common and is there an easy fix? (trans supplement, etc.)The fluid looks clean and it is full. Thanks for all your answers Bob J.

I might drop the pan and look at the inside of the filter.
It might also be something as simple as a shift linkage adjustment.
If the solenoids were not replaced ($1900 they had better have done it) then that could be your problem, they don't last much beyond 120K.

Default 96 cutlass trans

I had the car scanned because the check engine light is on and all the codes came up tranny. My mechanic confirmed it is probally the solenoids and to also replace the wire harness. Is there anyplace besides a dealer you can purchase these parts ? (NAPA,etc.) Thanks I may try calling the rebuilder, but I am sure they are going to say they replaced them.

If they did then maybe they can warranty them.
