I just purchased a 1994 Cutlass Convertible with 200,000km on it. It has the 3.4 DOHC engine. The engine light is on and now the check guages light and ABS light have come on. The engine light stays on all the time. The check guages and ABS light come on only after driving the car for a bit. I have a scan tool and hooked it up, but it is telling me no codes are registering in the computer. Any ideas?

 

Either take it somewhere that can check the alternator or get a volt/ohm meter and see what the voltage is at the battery posts both with the car running and not. I suspect there is an issue with the charging system.
