"86" wont idle
My sister-in-law has an "86" Delta 88 with the 3.8 engine that won't idle down at stop signs. It acts like the throttle is sticking at 2000 rpms. I haven't looked at it yet,but my S-10 had a similar problem with not iding down. The fix on it was to take a toothbrush and some carb cleaner and with the engine off scrub the edges of the butterfly on the throttle body. This seems to cure it. I am going to try the same thing on the Olds, but if that doesn't do it, what other things should I look for. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

is thiscarberated or throttle body injected. vacuum leak will cause high idle, rough idle, faulty iac valve also (idle air control valve)on very early obd 1 generation. Diry throttle blade will normally cause pedal to stick and pop open on acceleration.
