Default no start on 96 olds 98

Hi there, ive been trying to help a friend of mine with his 1996 olds 98. He went out to his car and it just wouldnt start. The car is getting plenty of fuel and i had the ign module tested and found out that it was bad. We replaced the module and replaced the spark plugs and still no start. It acts like it wants to fire every once and awhile but never does. I was wondering if anyone has ran into this before and how to check the coils and find out the resistence specs. I just cant see all the coils going bad also, but none of the front plugs have any spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

well we got it running for about two weeks and then it started running rough and didnt start this morning. took the ign module and had it tested and it came back bad. also told that the ign coils were low on the secondary side and bought 3 new coils. installed everything and no start. any idea's at all? would a crank sensor cause something like this? and suggestions? thanks

No real suggestions, sorry, but usually when crank sensors go bad, they're gone, not intermittent.
With the new ignition parts installed, do you have spark to the front plugs now?

replace the crank position sensor. it can/will kill everything if it is bad.

the sensor we spoke of earlier kills the spark. Replace it and see how things go.

Also, not all codes show a check engine light. Check for codes anyway at autozone or some other way.

Let us know. It should be a cheap enough part that it could stand to be replaced anyway. Don't forget to try and get those codes scanned if you can.
